Go beyond traditional talk therapy
EMDR therapy across New Jersey and California
Maybe you’ve been to therapy before, you’ve gained some useful coping skills
But you’re still feeling…
You’ve tried everything you can think of to feel better, but nothing’s sticking.
Anxious and stressed
Depressed, hopeless, and defeated
Overwhelmed and shutdown
EMDR therapy can help you recover from trauma and a wide range of adverse life experiences.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a psychotherapy that is scientifically proven to help people recover from trauma and a wide range of adverse life experiences. EMDR was developed in the late 1980s by Francine Shapiro, PhD., and is endorsed by leading health organizations across the globe.
-
EMDR targets unprocessed memories stuck in the brain and body from painful past experiences. These stored memories hold painful emotions, distressing body sensations, and negative thoughts and beliefs that keep us stuck in reliving the past. These stuck memories are the basis of current problems.
-
Your EMDR therapist guides you through the eight-phases of treatment which can take up to several weeks or several months. During a reprocessing session, you will briefly focus attention on a distressing image, negative belief, painful emotion, or body sensation related to the memory. Your therapist will guide you in directed eye-movements, hand-tapping, or auditory tones to activate your brain’s healing system as unpleasant thoughts, feelings, and body sensations fade away.
-
To activate your brain’s innate healing system to reprocess distressing memories
To improve your ability to respond effectively to current and future life demands
To clear distressing sensations, emotions, and negative thought patterns stuck in your brain and body
To incorporate needed skills, behaviors, and adaptive beliefs about yourself and others
To achieve the most effective and efficient treatment effects
To maintain your stability and safety within a positive therapeutic relationship
To bring contentment, satisfaction, and wellbeing into your life
